Creating a Presentation on Google Docs

Presentations can also be created in Google Docs, in a similar manner as we would create a wordprocessing document. The presentation is created online and can be shared immediately without the need to upload it onto a third party site. The advantage of using Google Docs to share presentations is that you can also have other people adding and collaborating on the same document. Here is a short Google Docs presentation I created about the island of Malta:

Embedding a SlideShare Presentation in Blogger

  1. Create a presentation with your favorite presentation application: PowerPoint, OpenOffice Impress, etc.
  2. When your presentation is ready, go to www.slideshare.com
  3. If you do not already have an account, create one first
  4. Click on the Upload button on the top of the screen
  5. While your file is uploading, you can change its settings: make the file public or private, change the file's name, tag it, and whether other people are allowed to download it or not.
  6. To embed your presentation in Blogger, start a new post, change to Edit HTML mode, and copy and paste your slideshare's code in the text box.

Embedding a Google Calendar into Blogger

1. After creating your Google Calendar, click on the Calendar name, and click on Settings.
2. Copy the iFrame code in the Embed this Calendar Section.
3. Paste the code in your blog. Remember to go into Edit Html mode first.
4. Whilst in Edit Html mode, change the width to 400 and the height to 300
4. Your Calendar should look something like this...

Planning for a Project

For this weekend, we have to think about project ideas and upload them together in a Google Doc.

I have created a Google Doc and uploaded it here:

You can also access it in your Google Docs by clicking here.

Green Group, let us all pool our ideas together in this document!

Have a nice weekend :)

Social Networking

Even since I discovered chat and social networking sites, I fell in love with the idea of communicating with people who are far away. One of my favourite videos about social networking is the one by the Common Craft Show, Social Networking in Plain English. Enjoy !

My favourite social networking tools are Facebook and Wetpaint Wikis....What are yours ? :)

A Big Hello !

A Big Hello to All,

I have created this blog as to have a journal of the activities in this Learning Event. This is my first experience in a Learning Event and already I am enjoying myself immensly :)

I like meeting new people and sharing experiences together, so I was always naturally drawn to eTwinning. I am a firm believer in social networking :) Then, last year I started working as an NSS and I got to know a wonderful world of teachers who sincerely enjoy working and sharing activities together.

My aim for this course is not only to learn about new technologies, but also to be able to use that knowledge with my teachers.

I have used Blogger to create this blog for the LE because I prefare Blogger's easy to use interface. It is not my first blog using Blogger; I write regularly in my personal blog, http://teachersandcomputers.blogspot.com, where I try to review popular online tools to help other teachers learn more about technology.

Looking forward to working with you all!

Amanda
